■16th Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition at the National Art Center, Tokyo
"No other exhibition gives me such joy!"
These are the words of a visitor who visits the "Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition" every year.
"The exhibition always features new discoveries and surprises, and it's an exhibition that evokes a lively sensibility. There's no other exhibition that gives me such joy. I look forward to it every year." (Male, 40s)
Every year, the National Art Center, Tokyo hosts art exhibitions by approximately 81 organizations. Among the numerous art exhibitions on offer, the "Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition" is an international open-call exhibition that focuses on contemporary artists (contemporary artists) living today.
It's said that "art is a mirror of the times," but today, the term "art" encompasses a wide variety of forms of expression. It could be paintings and two-dimensional works, sculptures and other three-dimensional works, photography, design, spatial design and installations, computer graphics, animation, and more—the list is endless. Moreover, it is becoming increasingly difficult to separate and finely categorize these elements. Rather, isn't it the intermingling of all elements that defines art today? This "Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition" truly serves as a mirror reflecting our current times, bringing together all genres of creative expression. The sheer variety of creative expression brought together in one space is a major feature of TORAM Spatial Art's exhibitions. Photographs and design works are displayed alongside paintings, and each piece is of high quality and worth seeing. This is precisely what makes this "Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition" a unique exhibition, and I believe it is one of the reasons why visitors enjoy viewing it so much.
Now in its 16th year, this international open call exhibition brings together works by numerous contemporary artists from across Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, as well as from around the world, including Korea, China, and the United States. To date, this exhibition has featured the works of over 1,500 contemporary artists. The age range is wide, from 10 to 80 years old, and many contemporary artists who are currently active as professionals have exhibited, as well as many contemporary artists who have made the transition from amateur to professional. Being able to exhibit works of free expression at the National Art Center, Tokyo is an ideal stage for contemporary artists.
Please enjoy the 16th Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition, a vibrant exhibition showcasing contemporary artists living today.
